    How the Pomodoro Technique works

    1. Pick one task.
    2. Work on it for 25 minutes without switching to email, chat or your phone.
    3. Take a 5-minute break — stand up, stretch, look away from the screen.
    4. After four sessions, take a longer 15–30 minute break.

The method was created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s and named after his tomato-shaped kitchen timer (pomodoro is Italian for tomato). The fixed sessions make it easier to start, and the breaks help you keep going.

    Make it fit you

25/5 is a starting point. Many people prefer 50/10 for deep work, or 15/3 when starting is hard. Change the lengths in Settings.

    Frequently asked questions

What happens if I get interrupted?

Pause the timer, deal with it, and resume — or reset the session if the interruption was long.

    Will it make a sound?

Yes, a short chime at the end of each focus session and break, as long as the tab is open.

    Are my tasks saved?

No. The task list lives only in this tab, so nothing is stored.
